Upgrading Your VW Transporter: Rear Seat Options & What You Need to Know

Thinking about adding rear seats to your Transporter? At Leighton Vans Australia, we offer fully certified solutions to transform your van into a functional, comfortable people mover—without compromising on quality or safety.

3 Rear Seat Options Available

We currently offer three main rear seating solutions to suit different budgets and builds:

1. Techsafe Rear Seats (Australia-Based) – Practical & Affordable

These locally made seats are a great entry-level option. They’re fold-forward, quick-release, and easy to remove thanks to a clip-in system with two rear pins. Perfect if you need flexibility for both passengers and cargo.

2. Jay Cee Seats – Versatile & Future-Ready

Similar in fitment to Techsafe but with an edge: Jay Cee seats fold forward and open all the way flat. This makes them ideal for those planning to add other interior features like drawers, kitchens, or bed platforms. Quick-release included for easy removal.

3. OEM Volkswagen Seats – Premium Comfort

The best of the best. OEM seats offer unmatched comfort, quality, and factory fitment. Brand-new from VW, they’re over $10,000—but we import them directly from the UK to make them more accessible.
We can engineer and certify these seats in Queensland, registering your van legally as a 5-seater (or 6-seater if your van has a 3-seat front layout). Leather upgrades, custom stitching, colours, and even logos are all available to match the interior exactly how you want it.

What We Don’t Do

Due to safety concerns and past issues, we don’t install rotating captain’s chairs in Australia.
